On the surface of it, today we looked at shiny, new motorhomes. Yes, yes, I know we have Joe Le Taxi (for those unfamiliar please see the photo) but there is always one that would be better, isn’t there? Well, you will be pleased to know, there wasn’t TODAY. Well not one that I could even begin to justify, even if I won the lottery, or one that we could agree on, in terms of size. Looking at the motorhomes is not really about us buying a new one, it was about giving ourselves time to work out how we are going to live our lives in the future.
Yes, this sounds a bit deep. Perhaps it is, but we are in a period of our lives when we are resetting, looking to the future. In my case, I am plotting the next 25 year ‘block’. Yeah, yeah, I know I might not make twenty five years but I certainly won’t do it well if I don’t have a plan! Mum and Dad gave me many things but possibly one of the most valuable lessons was watching them (my opinion) squander the last twenty plus years of their lives just existing. I have vowed not to do that, so come on life, I am going to live you.
I don’t think either of us were able to settle anything. we have a trip to the Motorhome and Caravan Show in a few weeks to do a bit more ‘thinking’. I have extensive travel on my list of ‘To Do’ in the future but not sure Himself is in the same mindset. He is in the ‘we can just pop away for the odd weekend’ place. As I see it at the moment, my options are as follows:
- Scrap the extensive travel goal
- Learn to be more confident driving Joe and buzz off on my own with the pooches
- Find another thing to replace the extensive travel goal
- Wait a little longer and see if Himself has a change of heart
I don’t have to make any decisions just yet but, one I have taken is, I am going to learn to be more confident taking Joe out. So watch out for the madwoman in a BIG Hymer especially if you are in the Ugly Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire area (the old coal mining areas for those of you unfamiliar). This could become ‘The Diary of a Mad Motor-homing Fiftysomething Woman Nobody’? A bit long – I will continue to contemplate.
