The Happy Swimmer is back in the room – well pool. I can report that it seems that the fitness fad of the New Year is over. No fighting for space in the changing rooms or the pool. Today, I had the outdoor pool pretty much to myself for the majority of my immersive movement session. Bliss. There were more fallen leaves to negotiate due to the wind but I can live with that. Swimming outdoors is partly about the nature so I am happy to share my tank of water with, well, natural stuff. Last year during one dip, we were evacuated because a mouse decided to join in the fun. Hey, they just wanted to swim like the rest of us. Mind you, I wouldn’t want as many mice with me as we had tree sheddings today.
I went out for a Ghurka meal this evening. That meant, in my new world of 800 calories a day (for now), fasting until 19.30. I am not going to hide from you that this was tough, especially in the final couple of hours. Was it worth it? Yes, I think so. It did two things; the obvious in terms of weight loss; and it taught me that I don’t want to have the opulence I had this evening very often. The simple, quiet life is feeling very appealing. Yes, a cup of tea and an omelette is now something to be savoured.
I am not going to reflect on my eating, drinking and exercise stuff in too much depth today. I want to get a week under my belt of the new regime before I analyse it in any level of detail. Quick spoiler though, the weight is going down not up
I think I may have done something stupid today. I have offered to help organise a meeting for writers in the Derbyshire area. I offered to help and already the whole job has landed in my lap. I am spending a lot of time self reflecting at the moment so I suppose my conscience to do something for others was irritatingly swirling around my brain. Any of you scribblers out there that live in Derbyshire, be in touch. Please. Is there anyone out there?
