January 23rd 2025 – Time Reminders

Today was my ‘little’ bridesmaid’s 40th Birthday. Can you believe it? Every now and then something happens to remind you of the passage of time. She is a very beautiful woman now with her own family who thankfully, include me very much in their lives. I bought her an Olive Tree called ‘Olive’ as one of her gifts, as I want her to have a long living reminder of her Auntie and Uncle. I hope she loves it. I am also taking her to get her nose pierced – deep down she is still the scared little girl who wants someone to hold her hand. Aren’t we all sometimes?

And yes, she still has the doll which was made by one of my Aunties who ‘moved on’ last summer. Lovely memories to make us smile.

At her own wedding in 2024

It is a shame I didn’t listen to the messages the universe was sending me earlier in the day, as I was thinking of how quickly time had passed between the two photographs above. I really didn’t get much done. I was very unfocused. Tomorrow I have to focus on using every minute usefully. I also need to go see my Auntie (the one in the carehome). A very good use of time even though she won’t remember.

We also spent sometime with a friend and his son. He is organising an event for a local branch of one of the Camping Clubs and we just went along as wingmen to a meeting at the proposed venue. He has had cancer. Still has but it is in remission. He was very concerned this evening because his oncologist is leaving Death Mill (my fond name for one of our local hospitals) to work in Dubai. This man has held our friend’s hand through the past few years of illness so it must be disconcerting. Note to self: Our friend might need that hand to hold as he finds a new medical prop for the next part of his journey.
