No, it isn’t mine. It would have been my Granddad Coxhead’s 117th birthday. He was known as ‘One Armed Bob’ in the village. Yeah, you got it, he had one arm – his left for the record. He lost his right arm in a pit accident around 1928. He didn’t smile often but when he did, it lit the room up. We used to go and watch the trains in Westhouses together – him pushing me in my pushchair. He moved on in 1994. I shout hello every time I drive past the grave yard.
There are quite a few family members in this graveyard. Mum will join them soon as soon as things defrost a bit. Auntie G keeps asking how she is. I just say she isn’t so good at the moment. There is no point in keep telling her that her sister died last June. It causes unnecessary upset over and over.
I am sorry, but Pip requires attention….I will be back soon.
I am back. I wasn’t very focused today. I had a bit of lunch (or dinner if you are from my parts) and then promptly fell asleep. Yes, yes, it was induced by ‘There are Rivers in The Sky’. On this occasion, I don’t think it was the story’s fault. I think I just needed to sleep and it was just a prop/ excuse. I am going to write a proper review of this book. I will probably put it on my Blog, Goodreads and as separate post on here. But, for those of you who have read my recent posts, it did get much better for me in the last quarter of its pages.
Once awoken from my afternoon slumber, I couldn’t be arsed to do much more so I binged watched ‘Bad Sisters’ (on Apple for those interested). I am about six episodes in now and I want to kill y‘man as much as the sisters. I am loving it. So well produced, acted and great to see the Ireland of now* rather than the old fashioned interpretations we often get. I have four more in this series to watch and then Series Two. Plenty more intrigue and plotting then.
I haven’t spoken much about health today. Sleep has been a thing. They say it is very important for good health. I am sleeping fine at the moment but it is aided/hampered by the bloody CPAP machine. For the record, I hate it but I suspect my health would be even worse without it.
*Note: I don’t think all modern Irish men are narcissistic ‘pricks’ (this is how he is known in the programme ‘The Prick’) and all Irish family groups want to kill each other in modern day Ireland. I just mean it is set in a modern setting and not on a wild, remote, romantic, island with old cottages, people playing fiddles blah, deblah and etc.
