Balance and Life Hacks

Life Hacks

Everyone around here seems to be all about life hacks. Well I think I have one, are you ready? Don’t and I repeat, don’t bother going to a local pantomime* production. You cannot get that time back. I won’t go into the details other than to say that it wasn’t in my immediate locality and it went beyond the laughably bad to just bad. Actually this sentiment stems from the importance to me of getting my ‘pacing’ right rather than me turning into a theatre critic. I don’t have the energy to be nice about these things anymore.

It feels very selfish to select things I do from the perspective of pacing but I am learning that it is necessary, at the moment, as I move along this journey to better health. Doing things that will result in me feeling dreadful the next day is only worth it when it is something really important to me or my immediate family/ close friends. I don’t like being like this but I think it is a necessary part of my ‘programme’.

I am currently on a quest to investigate how I can make better decisions, especially when somethings have to be planned well in advance.

*Pantomime, for those not in the UK, is the most bizarre type of theatre production based on Fairy Tails e.g. Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella etc. It has certain things that HAVE be in it such as at least one ‘Dame’ with incredible clothes, a Prince Charming, singing (including a sing-a-long with the audience) and dancing, audience interaction ‘Behind you’, ‘Oh yes it is, Oh no it isn’t’ etc, a scene where the comic character (traditionally the opposite to Prince Charming) gets covered in ‘pie’ and water in a slap stick scene with the Dame and other stuff. At its best, it is brilliant and very clever, delivering humour for both children and adults.

Musings

Why do parents think it is OK for their not yet teenage children to be riding all over the road, in dark clothes on their scooters at 10.30pm at night? Just asking for a friend.

How do dogs learn to use their claws on the floor like someone tapping a desk with their fingers? Dottie is a master at increasing the volume as she circles our kitchen island. And yes, it is annoying. I assume she wants to go out, eat something etc but sometimes I think she does it for fun to annoy me! She also has another little trope which involves waiting for me to clear the lawn and tie up the poo bag before she happily deposits….well a deposit. She is a master but I love her anyway. First world issues I suppose….

Do you have a magically refilling kitchen table? Not of food, oh no! As soon as I clear a space on it, it magically fills with more crap from who knows where and I am told it is my job to make it all disappear. I better get off to the magic shop to get a new wand as my current one seems to be failing me.

Happy Sunday everyone!
